My Village is the bomb.com

It takes a village to raise a child.

-African proverb

When your family hits a bump in the road you realize the utter necessity of a village. A village is a  support system that will wrap it arms around you while kindly and gently guiding you through the trials that will eventually plague your life. I have to tell you I might have been blessed with the best one.

I could tell you about the Mom who drives 6 hours to get a crappy night's sleep only to get up the next morning and chauffeur your children to and from school, while simultaneously washing 37 loads of your laundry and cooking a supper she will not eat because she has to drive home for work the next day.

I could tell you about the two sisters, one of which does not ask you to keep her posted, but instead demands updates because you know she is as worried as you. Or it could be an older sister who ships you a pirate outfit to help ease the patching that is to come because she will always be the older sister who can not help but look out for her baby sister.

Maybe your village includes friends who text you as they rise from bed telling you that YOUR child has been on THEIR hearts and in their prayers.

It could be that your village has been blessed with parents who have walked the path that you are just beginning to tread. Then they drive 3 hours to sit with you and offer words of encouragement.

Every village has the thoughtful gift givers. Ones who can't help but bless your child and you.

No village would be complete with those who hold you close and petition the Father on your behalf.

Each village must have a rock. Mine is my best friend and companion for life. The one who prays with and for me and who remains solid in life's heavy storms.

I pray each of you has a village as wonderful as mine. I hope you play important roles in others' lives because we all need a village. We need others who will not just stand beside us during difficult times but will fall to their knees when we are too weak to stand.

Thank you for standing with us and kneeling beside us in all of life's storms. We love each of you
