I do want to start this post by thanking so many of you for your kind words, thoughts and prayers about my previous post. It was a scary ordeal and I feel so fortunate to have gotten a good report. Many people have asked what happened to him and what has to be done. Here is a quick update. At some point over the last several months Seth received some trauma to his left eye. We have no idea when and where it happened. The trauma caused his entire lens to become so dislocated that it is pushing on the side of his eye causing it to bulge. I know you are probably thinking how did you not notice a trauma of this sort. Question: have you met Seth? If you have you didn't ask this question. If you haven't you must meet him to understand why. To "fix" this problem, Seth will have surgery on Monday(15th) in Memphis. It will be an outpatient procedure and I don't anticipate it taking very long. We will have to be there very early(not sure just yet of the time) but that is a blessing because you know how kids get when they can't eat or drink. The most difficult part this entire process will probably come in the weeks and months following surgery. We will all have to learn how to put in a contact lens and he will have to patch to regain strength in that eye. I know it will be a trying process but I am still so grateful we did not have to face the alternative. Prayers are greatly appreciated.
Now to the main event.
It's crunch time. We told our contractor we would like to be in the house by the end of the month. I highly doubt it will be 100% finished but it will most definitely be livable. I feel like some major changes have happened over the last two weeks but I still feel there is a LOT of work left to do. Let me start with the biggest change.
Kitchen: Before
Progress
I might have teared up a little seeing these cabinets go up today. We have spent what felt like 37 years painting these cabinets this week. Our friend Joey came over this morning and showed Jon how to use the fancy, smanchy paint sprayer he just had to have. It took about two hours to do what we had just spent 400 years doing. We are not quite finished painting. We still have doors and drawers to finish next week but that should be sooooooo much easier. I don't know if you can tell but the floor also went down this week. This is the same tile that was in our guest bath(see picture below) and it will run throughout a lot of the house. It has a very nice texture to it and it won't be slick when it gets wet.
Kids' Bath
This week we also saw major changes to the kids' bath as well. Our goal is to get most of the house with the exception of the master bed and bath done before move in date. This bathroom is crucial to an end of the month move in.
The family room is also looking so good but I forgot to get pictures. Just imagine it being clean with new corner bookcases, trim and the floor prepared for tile. That's exactly what it looks like.
Update: Family Room
I took some pictures of the family room today so you can stop struggling to imagine how it looks. I also included a formal living/dining room picture in case you were thinking the house is looking very clean and put together.
Other changes:
Kid's bedrooms being painted.
Exterior painting complete.
Other than the house and Seth's surgery, the kids started back to school in the last two weeks. Even Thad! That gives me 6 whole hours of no kids! I went to the grocery store by myself this week. You have no clue how good that feels. Here are some REAL cute pictures of my REAL cute kids.
Have a great Thursday! One more day people.
