Joanna Gaines is my real life tv bff. For real. I have been a fan of "Fixer Upper" from the very beginning. I am not jumping on the bandwagon. I have been here since EPISODE ONE SEASON ONE people. I am the REAL DEAL. I own three t-shirts. Enough said. Jon and I see the value in musty, spider web infested, three carpet layers and pink bath tile. We have never bought a "move in" ready house. Our last home we spent quite a bit of time working on and just recently sold. We loved it but we always knew we would sell. Then one day a new "perfect" home walked in to our life and it took three months but we finally made it ours. We had a LOT of people ask us why in the world we would sell our old home and I could give you some long winded answer but I will let Anissa from House Seven Blog explain it here. Enjoy a few pictures from our first home and CURRENT pictures from our new home.
Old Home
New Home
Our new home is almost exactly 1,132 steps from our old home. Not joking. I love our neighborhood. It is smack dab in the middle of our little town but it is quiet and peaceful. We would love to have land one day on which to build but for now we are quite content to live in Bel-air (that's really the name of the subdivision). We have taken many people through our new home as we wait for work to get started and they have all had one of three reactions. 1. Excitement because they can see the true potential. 2. Mingled reservation-they know it can be great but they are overwhelmed with the work. 3. Immediately want to turn around and run. We understand all of those feelings and trust me when I say, I have had them all. We got an amazing deal and we know this property is more than likely not our forever home. So we are viewing this property as an investment into our future. The financial freedom is so freeing and makes moving twice well worth it. We are no Chip and Joanna or John and Sherry (Young House Love) but can wait to make this home and Jon and Katie originalish.
Exterior: This house looks so sad on the outside and it needs a lot of TLC. We will be sad to say good bye to the yellow-tan brick(total joke) and red roof. We will obviously be painting everything but in addition it will have a new roof, windows and a/c unit. This house will be practically brand new. I CAN NOT wait to see what it looks like finished.
Formal Living and Dining Room-We will be doing mainly cosmetic updates but will be updating the fireplace as well. This will be our main eating space and will have the new entrance to our master bedroom.
The kitchen is only area of the house that has been updated since it was built in 1950. We plan to remove the eat in area, move the refrigerator, paint and add new cabinets. We will also raise the cabinets because they are a little low right now. Black quartz counters, stainless appliances and a subway tile back splash.
This will be the boys room. It is a pretty simple fix. Rip up carpet. Replace fixture and paint.
Two words: Pink tile. The guest bath will get a entire face lift. The only current items that will remain are the built-ins and cast iron tub. Bye bye pink.
Zoey's room is very dark in this picture but is actually quite bright. It will get the same face lift as the boys' room.
There are not enough words for this room. It was another addition and its ceiling height is slightly lower but man oh man I can imagine lots of football games and movie nights in this room. We will sadly remove the wallpaper and paint EVERYTHING. The sad, little mantle will be replaced and the fireplace in general will be updated. New Nova friendly flooring will go in so we can take care of our pup as she is getting older and a sweet flush mount ceiling fan will round it out.
Current Master bathroom/Future laundry room. This room was clearly an afterthought. It had to have been added in the last twenty years. It has an EXTERIOR door. It is right off the kitchen and you have to go through it to get to the laundry room and master bedroom. We intend on flip flopping this room with the current laundry room.
View from laundry room. Exterior door to left and kitchen door to right.

Current laundry room/future master bathroom. Only view I have of master bedroom.

These are probably hard to read and are not 100% accurate but it gives you a general idea on the layout.
