House Update: Week 3

I didn't not post an update last week because there wasn't a lot of progress. It was pretty discouraging. Let me explain. Our house was built on 1950. Nothing they did back then was done cheaply. Progress slowed greatly in the guest/kids bath. The walls and ceiling are all plaster, which means wire mesh covered in a cement substance.  They spent most of week two tearing out this plaster. Scroll down for a timeline of pictures of the guest bath. It took all week and I was disappointed to see very little changes.  Week three was much more productive. Thank goodness.

Most of the major changes in week three were once again in the bathrooms.  The guest bathroom went  back much quicker than it was torn out. The latest picture is not totally accurate. I took the picture on Thursday before we went out of town for the weekend and we went got back on Saturday it was really looking awesome. All the plumbing is roughed in and the sheetrock/green board is taped and mudded!

Week 3ish

The master bathroom is starting to shape up as well.  This week they closed up the wall to what was the old master bath.  If you remember, we are flip flopping the laundry and master bath to make it a true master suite.  They had to move some plumbing and electrical to make it more functional but we are starting to roll in this room.

Week Three

Speaking of electrical and plumbing, the crew has almost finished all the major changes to plumbing and electrical systems.  We upgraded the electrical panel and changed over a lot of the plumbing to some colorful pipes.  They have a name but I can't think of it.

We made a ton of decisions this week from tile to shower to paint colors.  It got a little overwhelming but the progress we will see at the end of week four will make it so worth it.  Let me give you a glimpse of what will happen this week!

Week four will have big changes to the exterior.  I am hoping after this week we will start the putting back phases but there is so much still to do.  Stay tuned!

  1. How exciting! It looks like things are moving along. I drive by almost every day on my way to my daughter's house. Don't be surprised if I stop by!
